Esse biofilme \u00e9 formado por c\u00e9lulas inclu\u00eddas em uma matriz org\u00e2nica de pol\u00edmeros extracelulares produzidos por microorganismos [2].<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Para a determina\u00e7\u00e3o da origem da corros\u00e3o (bi\u00f3tica ou abi\u00f3tica) \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio certificar-se da presen\u00e7a de microorganismos ou de seus metab\u00f3litos no local de ataque ao substrato. O <em>biofouling<\/em> \u00e9 um processo de acumula\u00e7\u00e3o que se dirige do seio do l\u00edquido para a superf\u00edcie met\u00e1lica, j\u00e1 a corros\u00e3o transcorre no sentido oposto, da superf\u00edcie met\u00e1lica (que se dissolve) para o seio do fluido. Isso se chama processo de interfase bioeletroqu\u00edmica (Figura 3). Al\u00e9m disto, tem-se a possibilidade de que a fixa\u00e7\u00e3o destes organismos cause altera\u00e7\u00f5es qu\u00edmicas superficiais ou biodeteriora\u00e7\u00e3o, em virtude de seus processos metab\u00f3licos com gera\u00e7\u00e3o de subst\u00e2ncias polim\u00e9ricas extracelulares e secund\u00e1rias, tais como os \u00e1cidos org\u00e2nicos [3].<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Refer\u00eancias<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><ol><li>Ko\u00f3k, L., et al., Biofouling of membranes in microbial electrochemical technologies: Causes, characterization methods and mitigation strategies.
