Dois determinantes s\u00e3o decisivos para a extens\u00e3o das florestas inundadas periodicamente na Amaz\u00f4nia. O primeiro \u00e9 a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o anual desigual das chuvas. Na maior parte da Amaz\u00f4nia, a esta\u00e7\u00e3o chuvosa \u00e9 seguida por um per\u00edodo mais seco que dura v\u00e1rios meses. O segundo \u00e9 a topografia da bacia amaz\u00f4nica e suas v\u00e1rzeas baixas. Combinados, esses fatores levam a um aumento anual na descarga fluvial que causa um enorme pulso de inunda\u00e7\u00e3o sazonal (Junk et al. 2020). Al\u00e9m disso, a profundidade e a dura\u00e7\u00e3o da inunda\u00e7\u00e3o nas florestas variam de acordo com a inclina\u00e7\u00e3o do terreno e a dist\u00e2ncia aos principais corpos d&#8217;\u00e1gua. O nivel de \u00e1gua varia em diversos metros sazonalmente nos rios amz\u00f4nicos, inundando as florestas adjacentes. Al\u00e9m das \u00e1rvores, outros organismos como os que vivem no solo devem ser afetados pela inunda\u00e7\u00e3o, por\u00e9m n\u00e3o sabemos como. Globalmente, a biota do solo \u00e9 reconhecida por sua import\u00e2ncia para a sa\u00fade do mesmo e por disponibilizar nutrientes para a comunidade de plantas (Fig. 2). Al\u00e9m disso, tanto a biota subterr\u00e2nea quanto as plantas podem afetar a estrutura do solo e a composi\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies por meio da secre\u00e7\u00e3o de diferentes compostos qu\u00edmicos que inibem ou facilitam a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o de determinadas esp\u00e9cies (Bennett et al. 2017). Por exemplo, invertebrados de solo s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis \u200b\u200bpor processar grandes quantidades de detritos e torn\u00e1-los dispon\u00edveis para outros organismos. Da mesma forma, os microrganismos s\u00e3o essenciais para a ciclagem de nutrients e os fungos ectomicorr\u00edzicos, fungos que est\u00e3o associados mutualisticamente (rela\u00e7\u00e3o biol\u00f3gica que ambos organismos se beneficiam) com plantas, est\u00e3o na base de processos do ecossistema, como a ciclagem de carbono do solo. Para entender o efeito do gradiente de inunda\u00e7\u00e3o no organismos de solos n\u00f3s utilizamos amostras de serra pilheira e solo para extrair o DNA presente nessas amostras e sequenci\u00e1-los com a abordagem de metabarcoding. Com essa t\u00e9cnica foi poss\u00edvel caracterizar a diversidade e a composi\u00e7\u00e3o da comunidades subterr\u00e2neas e relacion\u00e1-las com a diversidade de \u00e1rvores. N\u00f3s verificamos que tanto o gradiente de inunda\u00e7\u00e3o \u00a0quanto a diversidade de \u00e1rvores n\u00e3o explicam a biodiversidade de animais, fungos e protistas abaixo do solo. No entanto, o gradiente de inunda\u00e7\u00e3o e a diversidade de \u00e1rvores explicam em parte a composi\u00e7\u00e3o da comunidade de bact\u00e9rias do solo (Bredin et al. 2021).<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Quer saber <\/strong><strong>mais sobre o trabalho?
